Virtually an unlimited number. Video Insight has a unique peer-to-peer design that utilizes Microsoft.Net and SQL Server software platforms. This design allows your organization to view cameras from any server within your domain. You can have an unlimited number of locations under a single account. These accounts are accessible along the left-hand side navigation menu.
You can have an unlimited number of clients. Video Insight utilizes Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS) to allow remote viewers. Therefore, the system is only limited to the number of remote viewers by available bandwidth and the server's CPU utilization. If you require a significant number of concurrent users, you can set up Microsoft's IIS load balancing and support a virtually unlimited number of users.

Recording

Allocate between 1-2GB per camera, per day, depending on the recording mode, activity, and image resolution. For example, in a busy environment, a 16-camera system with a 160GB hard drive will provide approximately seven (7) days of continuous recording when the image resolution is set at 3 frames per second for each camera.
Yes, you can select frame rate, image quality, and always-on or motion-detected recording mode for each individual camera.
Video files are stored on your PC's hard drive or any other Windows storage device.
The video files are saved as AVI files.
The software overwrites the oldest files as new ones are added. The number of days of recorded video is not limited and will only delete the oldest files when the disk storage system is full. We recommend using a tape backup, CD-ROM, or DVD writer to archive video for long-term storage.
Video Insight utilizes Microsoft Windows disk storage. We recommend using standard backup software, including RAID drives, to protect your data. Depending on the sensitivity of the data, it's recommended that you back up your data on a daily basis.
Depending on the frame rate and the amount of motion, a video clip can be as short as 30 minutes or as long as 24 hours.
Yes, you can select the recording mode by camera. If you select to record "motion only" you have (4) independent adjustments to help in customizing the sensitivity. Those include: (a) time interval between images (b) % of image change (c) general sensitivity (d) ability to block out areas that of the camera from motion detection.
Yes. On a 100MB network you will use approximately 25% of the network bandwidth between the Video Insight server and the storage device.
Yes. You can connect any analog output including PCs with S-Video output, VCR's and DVD players.
The VJ series card is capable of recording at 160x120, 176x120, 180x128, 352x240, 360x240, 640x240, 640x480, 704x480 and 720x480. The V series is capable of 320x240 and 640x480. 240fps is only possible when the resolution is set at 320x240. The max number of 640x480 images that we find are acceptable on a 3GHz system are 120fps.
Yes, you can set a camera to start and stop recording at pre-determined times.
Yes, you can set a password that prevents unauthorized personnel from stopping the DVR from recording.

Viewing

You can search for events by camera, date, or time by clicking the appropriate camera along the left side navigation. Under each camera, historical video files are recorded by date and time for the entire recorded history.
You can print individual frames or export complete files to CD, DVD, Digital Tape, or VHS cassette.

Cameras

Our software is designed for integration with virtually any brand of analog CCTV cameras. Future versions will incorporate IP-based web cams.
No, you connect your cameras directly to the supplied video capture card, which is installed on your server. If you have a multiplexer and would like to keep it in service, you can add Video Insight between the cameras and the multiplexer.

Yes, the software allows you to remotely control the PTZ camera. We support all major brand of cameras including Pelco, Canon, EverFocus and Sony.

The standard Windows application interface is very familiar to users and is easy to use. An end-user should be familiar with the system in less than 15 minutes.
